The world of online betting has taken the U.S. by storm with the state of Arizona becoming the latest to join.

Sports betting in Arizona? How can I join the action?

September 9th, 2021, marked the first day for retail and online sports fans to place wagers in the state of Arizona. Arizona formally legalized sports betting back on April 15th when the house and senate agreed on the bill. Arizona’s new law allows ten licenses for federally recognized tribes and ten licenses for professional sports teams and their respective venues.

Where can I place a bet in person?

FanDuel has launched their first physical location at the Footprint Center, where patrons can place bets in person, watch live sports, or even seek advice about different wager options from their staff. Fanduel is the first completed retail sportsbook in the state that’s currently open.

Caesar’s Sportsbook at Chase Field is set to open in early 2022 but is already offering Arizona residents a way to get in the action. Bettors can place wagers in person at Chase Field box office windows 21-25 until the full sportsbook is open.

FanDuel and Caesar’s are the only two retail locations that are certain for 2022; however, many other sportsbooks are looking to expand to the retail market as soon as possible. Bally Bet partnered with the Phoenix Mercury and will be opening a retail location near the Footprint CenterBetMGM has partnered with the Arizona Cardinals and the Gila River Tribe to offer a retail sportsbook at the State Farm Stadium. And DraftKings is also working on creating a retail location at the TPC Scottsdale by partnering with the PGA. DraftKings is planning to open its doors by 2023. The new legislation allows Arizona sportsbooks to have both a retail location and an online brand, giving Arizona bettors plenty of options to wager in person.
