Big 12 Preview: How to Bet All 10 Teams in 2022

We are right on the precipice of the start of the 2022 college football season, and there is plenty to talk about with the Big 12. The conference faces much uncertainty as many teams can challenge for the conference title. Here is one bet for every team in the conference.

Baylor Bears

  • National Title Odds: 100:1
  • Conference Odds: 6.5:1
  • To Make Playoffs: N/A
  • Regular Season Wins: Over 7.5 -160; Under 7.5 +135

The Bears went 12-2 last season and finished just shit of the final College Football Playoff spot. Watch for Baylor to come back down to earth after a sky high 2021. They return only about a quarter of the offensive production from the previous season, while that may be enough to beat the bottom of the conference they should struggle against the higher end teams.

Pick: Win total under 7.5

Iowa State Cyclones

  • National Title Odds: 200:1
  • Conference Odds: 18:1
  • To Make Playoffs: N/A
  • Regular Season Wins: Over 6.5 -110; Under 6.5 -110

While long term I believe in Dan Campbell, his season as Iowa State may be rocky, to say the least. The roster has been drained of talent and experience bringing back just 36% of their defense and 28% of their offense. Look for the Cyclones to regress this season as Campbell tries to rebuild the roster.

Pick: Win total Under 6.5

Kansas State Wildcats

  • National Title Odds: 250:1
  • Conference Odds: 12:1
  • To Make Playoffs: N/A
  • Regular Season Wins: Over 6.5 -170: Under 6.5 +145

Head coach Chris Kileman has been a home run hire for Kansas State posting a 20-16 record straight up and 22-12-1 ATS. Now they bring back 73% of their offensive production with Nebraska transfer Adrian Martinez in at QB. Look for Kansas State to keep rolling in the Big 12 and have another good season.

Pick: Win total over 6.5

Oklahoma State Cowboys

  • National Title Odds: 90:1
  • Conference Odds: 5.5:1
  • To Make Playoffs: Yes +1400; No -4000
  • Regular Season Wins: Over 8.5 +105; Under 8.5 -125

The Cowboys had one of their best defensive seasons in program history last season, ranking 7th in defensive success rate and 14th in finishing drives. The defense is what propelled Oklahoma State to their Big 12 Championship game last season and now the architect of that defense Jim Knowles departed to Ohio State.

Pick: Under 8.5 Wins

Texas Longhorns

  • National Title Odds: 50:1
  • Conference Odds: 2.9:1
  • To Make Playoffs: Yes +700; No -1200
  • Regular Season Wins: Over 8.5 +100; Under 8.5 -120

After a season to forget in 2021 the Longhorns under Steve Sarkisian look to right the ship in 2022. A flurry of flashy transfers and recruits including 5-stat QB Quinn Ewers and TE Jahleel Billingsley. With the most talent in the Big 12, Texas looks to right the ship in 2022.

Pick: To win the Big 12 and over 8.5 wins

Oklahoma Sooners

  • National Title Odds: 40:1
  • Conference Odds: 1.9:1
  • To Make Playoffs: Yes +475; No -700
  • Regular Season Wins: Over 9.5 +105; Under 9.5 -125

After a disastrous offseason in Norman, OK with the departure of head coach Lincoln Riley to USC, along with him some of the best talent on the team including 5-star QB Caleb Williams. Brett Venables brings in stability and experience to the program, but the loss of talent may be too much to overcome.

Pick: Win total under 9.5

Kansas Jayhawks

  • National Title Odds: 2000:1
  • Conference Odds: 250:1
  • To Make Playoffs: N/A
  • Regular Season Wins: Over 2.5 -160; Under 2.5 +135

Lance Leipold looks to continue the work he’s put in rebuilding Kansas’ football program and while they’re still far away from contention in the Big 12, they are on the rise in a so-so conference.

Pick: Win total over 2.5

TCU Horned Frogs

  • National Title Odds: 250:1
  • Conference Odds: 12:1
  • To Make Playoff: N/A
  • Regular Season Wins: Over 6.5 -140; Under 6.5 +120

Another team flying somewhat under the radar is TCU, new head coach Sonny Dykes has a proven track record of success at SMU, taking them to three straight bowl games before leaving. He now finds himself in Fort Worth surrounded by optimism and opportunity. TCU has star power on offense and with the Air Raid system Dykes looks to implement, look for them to be a factor in the conference this season.

Pick: To win the Big !2 and over 6.5 wins

West Virginia Mountaineers

  • National Title Odds: 300:1
  • Conference Odds: 25:1
  • To Make Playoffs: N/A
  • Regular Season Wins: Over 5.5 -125; Under 5.5 +105

Neal Brown may have the talent in place to have a successful season at West Virginia, there are still too many variables for them to be a consistent force in the conference this season. A new scheme, offensive coordinator and QB leave a lot to figure out in the course of the season.

Pick: Win total under 5.5

Texas Tech Red Raiders

  • National Title Odds: 600:1
  • Conference Odds: 45:1
  • To Make Playoffs: N/A
  • Regular Season Wins: Over 5.5 -135; Under 5.5 +115

It’s a new day for Texas Tech football as legendary high school football head coach Joey Mcguire looks to put his stamp on this program and season. Mcguire hired excellent coordinators on the offensive side in Zach Kittley and defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter. The roster should also be improved as Mcguire was one of the best recruiters in the state of Texas during his high school tenure.

Pick; Win total Over 5.5
