Premier League is Back and Better than Ever!: Previews and Predications for this Weekend

This will be first column of the young Premier Season, but certainly not my first bets. There is chaos in the scheduling with the Queen’s passing. As with Premier League games, passions can be high and policing will be at a premium which had thrown a wrench into the scheduling. We have 7 Premier League games lined up for the weekend with 3 matchups postponed. Here are my top bets for the weekend to honor the Queen (although she preferred to play the ponies).

Tottenham Team Total O1.5 (-215) 2.15 Units to Win 1 Unit

Tottenham is off to a fast start with 14 points in 6 matches with 0 defeats. They are averaging 2 goals per game in Premier League matches and will be motivated after being defeated by Sporting CP in the Champions League on Tuesday. More excitingly, Tottenham gets the second worst defense in the Premier League with their matchup against Leicester City. In 6 Premier games this season, Leicester has given up 16 goals which good for an average of over 2.5 per game. When you mix in a good offense with a bad defense you get a lot of goals (Bad Defense + Good Offense = Tottenham O1.5).

Everton vs West Ham U2.5 (-130) 1.3 Units to Win 1 Unit

Passing, slow play, and lack of urgency will be the key themes to this game. With Everton and West Ham both occupying the both fourth of the table, both teams will be desperate to at least get a point. In 6 games this year, Everton games have seen 10 goals (4 GF and 6 GA) while West Ham has seen 11 goals (3 GF and 8 GA). Neither team can score and both defenses have at least been respectable. I see a 0-0 tie or 1-0 the likely outcome. If there is a goal, I expect the scoring team to take the air out of the ball like Tom Brady.

Tottenham vs Leicester O10.5 Corners (-105) 1.05 Units to Win 1 Unit

Everton vs West Ham U10.5 (-140) 1.4 Units to Win 1 Unit

I am going to give you a two for one here and give you two picks. The reasons are outlined above, but I think these games will have very different paces. Tottenham will be living inside the Leicester third and will get their fair shots from the corner. The Everton and West Ham game will live in the middle third with not many chances at goal and corners.
