Sports betting operators in the state reported an increase in their total handle from September to October. West Virginia players wagered a total of $51.1 million in West Virginia, a 9% increase from the $46.9 wagered in September. Online sports wagering made up $42.1 million of the total wagering in the state, a 13.2% increase from September.
Both online sports wagering and retail sports wagering experienced a decrease year over year. The total sports betting handle of $51.1 million for October 2022 was a decrease of 17.1% from October 2021, when state operators handled a total of $61.7 million.
While online sports betting brought in $42.1 million, a 13.2% increase from September, it was still an 11.9% decrease compared to October 2021, when operators handled a total of $47.77 million.
Revenue for online sports wagering was $6.97 million, up 27.3% month-over-month and 89.9% from October 2021.
